Garbage Disposals

Nearly 50% of the time we can repair your garbage disposal. If you need a new one, we will give you the pros and cons of the best brands – and suggest the right one based on your usage.

Four easy tips to keep from having to call us

1. Buy a simple stainless steel mesh cover for your kitchen sink.
2. When operating the disposal, always use cold water.
3. Don’t use commercial grade drain cleaners.
3. Grind up some ice cubes and lemon peels for a fresh smell
.

Tip #1 will do more than anything else to keep you from calling us. Most garbage disposal problems occur because someone drops a small, hard object in the sink. The object gets jammed in the disposal, and locks it up. You know that sound. The motor works, but it can’t turn the blades.

The other culprit is taking the term garbage disposal literally. Garbage cans are for garbage. Garbage disposals are for small pieces of food that get washed off from pans, plates, and silverware. That’s it. Remind your teenagers and little ones of this, and you will likely never have to call us again – except when you really need a new garbage disposal.
